An Act To Streamline the Publication of Municipal Reports

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:

Sec. 1. 30-A MRSA §2801, first ¶,  as enacted by PL 1987, c. 737, Pt. A, §2 and Pt. C, §106 and amended by PL 1989, c. 6; c. 9, §2; and c. 104, Pt. C, §§8 and 10, is further amended to read:

The officers of each municipality shall publish annually a complete report both in paper form and digitally on a publicly accessible site on the Internet, subject to the following provisions.

Sec. 2. 30-A MRSA §2801, sub-§4,  as amended by PL 1993, c. 19, §1, is further amended to read:

4. Copies for distribution.   Copies of the report must be deposited in the municipal office or a convenient place of business for distribution to the voters at least 3 days before the annual meeting or the annual business meeting. A request for a hard copy of the report must be made at least 2 weeks before the printing date of the report.

SUMMARY

This bill requires municipal reports to be published in paper form and digitally on a publicly accessible site on the Internet. It also requires that requests for hard copies of a report be made at least 2 weeks prior to the printing date of the report.
