An Act To Amend Public Access Laws To Improve Accountability for Public Funds by Making Public the Board Meetings of Hospitals Receiving Significant State Funding
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:
Sec. 1. 1 MRSA §402, sub-§2, ¶E-1 is enacted to read:
E-1. The board of directors of a general hospital, as defined in Title 22, section 7932, subsection 2-A, that receives payments and reimbursements from the State Government and Federal Government that total more than 50% of its gross operating revenues in the general hospital's prior fiscal year;

This bill requires that meetings of a general hospital's board of directors be public if that hospital receives more than 50% of its gross operating revenues in the form of payments and reimbursements from the State Government and Federal Government in its prior fiscal year.
