An Act To Provide Maine Landlords Advance Notice of Water Disconnection Postings
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:
Sec. 1. 35-A MRSA §6111-D is enacted to read:
§ 6111-D. Landlord notice in advance of posting disconnection notice at property
If a landlord is billed for water utility service provided to rental property, at least 3 business days prior to posting any disconnection notices at the rental property, the water utility must provide written notice to the landlord of the upcoming posting of the disconnection notice.
SUMMARY
This bill requires a water utility to provide a landlord who is billed for water utility service for a rental property written notice at least 3 days prior to the water utility's posting any disconnection notices at the rental property.
