Resolve, To Alleviate Hunger in Rural Maine in Areas of High Unemployment

Sec. 1. Waiver of time limit on Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits in labor surplus areas. Resolved: That, as authorized by 7 United States Code, Section 2015(o)(4) and 7 Code of Federal Regulations, Section 273.24(f), the Department of Health and Human Services shall submit a request to the United States Department of Agriculture to waive the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits time limit for able-bodied adults without dependents in areas designated as labor surplus areas by the United States Department of Labor, Employment and Training Administration. The department shall request the waiver no later than October 1, 2017.
