An Act To Prohibit the Sale of High-capacity Magazines
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:
Sec. 1. 17-A MRSA §1059 is enacted to read:
§ 1059. Sale of high-capacity magazines
1. A person is guilty of sale of a high-capacity magazine if, without authority to do so, the person knowingly sells or supplies a high-capacity magazine to another person.
2. As used in this section, "high-capacity magazine" means a firearm magazine, belt, drum, feed strip or similar device that is used to insert ammunition into a chamber of a firearm and that has the capacity of or can be readily converted to contain or accept more than 10 rounds of ammunition.
3. Sale of a high-capacity magazine is a Class D crime.
