Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:

 
Sec. 1. 38 MRSA §1609 is enacted to read:

 
§1609.__MTBE

 
A person may not sell or offer for sale in this State any
gasoline or fuel product treated with MTBE.__For the purposes of
this section, "MTBE" means methyl tertiary butyl ether.

 
SUMMARY

 
This bill prohibits the sale of gasoline or fuel products that
are treated with MTBE.
