| | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows: |

| | | Sec. 1. 36 MRSA §5287 is enacted to read: |

| | | §5287.__Contributions to Veterans' Memorial Cemetery |
|
| | | Every individual resident who is entitled to a refund under | | this Part may designate that $1 of that refund be paid for the | | benefit of the Veterans' Memorial Cemetery. |
|
| | | Each individual income tax form must contain a designation in | | substantially the following form:__"Veterans' Memorial Cemetery: | | ( )$1." |
|
| | | The State Tax Assessor shall transfer funds received under | | this section to the Treasurer of State, who shall deposit the | | funds in a nonlapsing, dedicated revenue account in the | | Department of Defense, Veterans and Emergency Management to be | | used solely for the benefit of the Veterans' Memorial Cemetery. |
|
| | | The bill provides an income tax checkoff providing for a $1 | | contribution for the benefit of the Veterans' Memorial Cemetery. |
