Sec. 1. 30-A MRSA §2505 is enacted to read:

§2505. Interim budget

In the event that the annual municipal budget is not approved at a public vote prior to the beginning of the new budget year, the municipal government must be operated on an interim budget until the annual municipal budget is finally approved by public vote.__The interim budget may not exceed the previous year's budget.

SUMMARY

This bill requires the continued operation of a municipal government in the event that a public vote in that municipality does not result in the adoption of an annual budget.
