Sec. 1. 1 MRSA §1009 is enacted to read:

§1009.__Delinquent filers of required campaign reports

The commission shall make a report to the joint standing committee of the Legislature having jurisdiction over legal and veterans' affairs no later than March 1st of each first regular session of the Legislature identifying candidates who have filed required campaign reports delinquently and candidates who have filed required campaign reports that contain errors, omissions or other problems that cause undue delay in the processing of that report.

SUMMARY

This bill requires the Commission on Governmental Ethics and Election Practices to issue a report each biennium to the joint standing committee of the Legislature having jurisdiction over legal and veterans' affairs identifying filers of delinquent or problematic campaign reports.
