| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows: |

| | Sec. 1. 22 MRSA §3-D, sub-§§7 and 8, as enacted by PL 1995, c. 598, Pt. | A, §1, are amended to read: |
|
| | 7. Access to care. Access to and use of health care services | by all or a particular group of the people of this State, | including, but not limited to, the use of ambulatory health care | services. The access and use may be categorized by specialty and | type of practice of the health professional or health facility | providing the service; and |
|
| | 8. Public health. Public health policies and programs. ; |
|
| | Sec. 2. 22 MRSA §3-D, sub-§§9 and 10 are enacted to read: |
|
| | 9.__Evaluation.__Evaluation of the health of Maine residents | and the quality and effectiveness of health care and health | programs; and |
|
| | 10.__Recommendations.__Recommendations to improve the health | of Maine residents and their access to health care and health | programs. |
|
| | This bill expands the responsibilities of the Maine Center for | Public Health Practice to include evaluation of the health of | Maine residents and the quality and effectiveness of health care | and health programs and making recommendations to improve the | health of Maine residents and their access to health care and | health programs. |
