An Act to Provide Tax-exempt Status to Organizations That Teach Reading

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:
Sec. 1. 36 MRSA §1760, sub-§80
is enacted to read:
80.__Literacy organizations.
__Sales to nonprofit organizations
whose primary purpose is to teach people how to read.
SUMMARY
This bill exempts from the sales tax sales to nonprofit
literacy organizations.
