| | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows: |

| | | Sec. 1. 12 MRSA §7035, sub-§1, śC is enacted to read: |

| | | C.__The commissioner shall set fish population and habitat | | protection rules for both open-water fishing and ice fishing | | in the following descending order of priority: |
|
| | | (1)__Limiting the bag limit or limiting the minimum | | legal length of fish taken; |
|
| | | (2)__Restricting the type of gear used to catch fish; | | and |
|
| | | (3)__Restricting the length of the season. |
|
| | | This bill prioritizes the guidelines that the Commissioner of | | Inland Fisheries and Wildlife must follow to protect fish | | populations. |
