| | | Sec. 1. 10 MRSA c. 209-B is enacted to read: |

| | | The awarding of a contract for a construction project, whether | | privately or publicly owned, that is funded by state or municipal | | assistance must be based upon a fair, competitive bidding | | process.__The bidding process may not exclude a worker, company | | or bidder because of the worker's, company's or bidder's union or | | nonunion status. |

| | | The purpose of this bill is to exclude union or nonunion | | status as a factor in the competitive bidding process for | | construction projects supported by public funds. |
