2. Consider the effects of urban sprawl and local land use
policies on economic growth and development;

 
3. Evaluate current economic growth and development
activities, including those already undertaken by the Lewiston
and Auburn municipal governments; and

 
4. Identify short-term and long-term opportunities for
economic growth and development within the cities of Lewiston and
Auburn; and be it further

 
Sec. 5. Staff assistance. Resolved: That the commission shall request
staffing assistance from the Legislative Council; and be it
further

 
Sec. 6. Reimbursement. Resolved: That all members of the commission
are entitled to reimbursement for travel and other necessary
expenses. The Executive Director of the Legislative Council
shall administer the commission's budget; and be it further

 
Sec. 7. Report. Resolved: That the commission shall submit its
report, together with any necessary implementing legislation, to
the Second Regular Session of the 119th Legislature no later than
February 1, 2000. If the commission requires an extension, it
may apply to the Legislative Council, which may grant the
extension.

 
SUMMARY

 
This resolve establishes the Commission to Study Economic
Development Opportunities for Lewiston and Auburn.
