| | | Sec. 1. 25 MRSA §2804-B, sub-§1, as amended by PL 1997, c. 395, Pt. O, | | §3, is further amended to read: |

A person may not serve as a law enforcement | | officer with the power to make arrests or the authority to carry | | a firearm in the course of duty until certified by the board as | | satisfying all preservice training requirements, unless that | | person is serving only as a harbor master or municipal shellfish | | conservation warden and complies with the recertification | | requirements of section 2804-C. |

| | | This bill exempts harbor masters and municipal shellfish | | conservation wardens from the full course of study at the Maine | | Criminal Justice Academy. It does not exempt them from ongoing | | training requirements. |
