Sec. 1. Rulemaking. Resolved: That by January 1, 2000 the Department
of Human Services shall adopt rules to lengthen the period of
time in the Medical Eligibility Determination Assessment, so-
called MED '96, in which the assessment considers a person's
cognition, behavior and need for professional nursing services
and special treatments and therapies. The rules must require
that the time period be extended from 7 to 14 days. Rules
adopted pursuant to this resolve are routine technical rules as
defined by the Maine Revised Statutes, Title 5, chapter 375,
subchapter II-A.

 
SUMMARY

 
This resolve requires the Department of Human Services to
adopt rules to lengthen from 7 to 14 days the assessment period
for MED '96 assessments for long-term care services.
