Sec. 1. 5 MRSA §12003-A, sub-§11 is enacted to read:

11.__Prohibition.__A person may not be a member on an agency, board or commission if:

A.__That person possesses or acquires any interest, direct or indirect, in any contract or proposed contract of that agency, board or commission; or

B.__That person's spouse, child, mother, father or sibling possesses or acquires any interest, direct or indirect, in any contract or proposed contract of that agency, board or commission.

Any board member who is in violation of this subsection on the effective date of this subsection may continue to serve for 180 days from the date upon which the violation begins or until a new member replaces that member, whichever is earlier.

SUMMARY

This bill prohibits conflicts of interest for persons serving on state agencies, boards or commissions.
