Sec. 1. Public Utilities Commission required to commence investigation. Resolved:
That the Public Utilities Commission shall investigate whether
internet traffic must be classified as local or toll traffic in
the State. Within 30 days after the effective date of this
resolve, the commission shall begin the investigation. The
commission shall submit a report, together with any legislation,
to the Joint Standing Committee on Utilities and Energy 90 days
after the commencement of the investigation. The report must be
consistent with the policy goals established in the Maine Revised
Statutes, Title 35-A, section 7101, subsections 1, 2 and 4.

 
SUMMARY

 
This resolve requires the Public Utilities Commission to
investigate whether internet traffic should be classified as
local or toll traffic. The commission shall report to the Joint
Standing Committee on Utilities and Energy with its
recommendations and any necessary legislation.
