Sec. 1. 36 MRSA §6162-A, sub-§2, as amended by PL 1997, c. 643, Pt. RR, §6, is repealed and the following enacted in its place:

2.__Income.__Beginning November 1, 1999, the State Tax Assessor shall establish income limitations that are determined by reference to the nonfarm income official poverty line as defined by the federal Office of Management and Budget and revised annually in accordance with the federal Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1981, Section 673, Subsection 2.

Sec. 2. 36 MRSA §6162-A, sub-§6, as enacted by PL 1987, c. 528, §2, is repealed.

Sec. 3. Effective date. This Act takes effect November 1, 1999.

SUMMARY

This bill directs the State Tax Assessor to establish income limits for the elderly low-cost drug program that are determined according to the federal nonfarm income poverty line beginning November 1, 1999.
