Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:
Sec. 1. 34-A MRSA §1210-B
is enacted to read:
§1210-B.__Reimbursement to counties boarding prisoners from other
jurisdictions
In addition to its duties pursuant to section 1210-A, the
department shall reimburse in full a county for the county's
costs of boarding a prisoner from another jurisdiction in that
county's jail.__Reimbursement must cover costs incurred from the
day a prisoner arrives to the day the prisoner departs from the
jail.
SUMMARY
This bill requires the Department of Corrections to reimburse
in full a county for the costs that county incurs boarding a
prisoner from another jurisdiction in its jail.
