| | | Sec. 1. 22 MRSA §4062, sub-§4 is enacted to read: |

| | | 4.__Kinship preference.__In the residential placement of a | | child the department shall prefer persons related to the child | | through the natural or adoptive family, whether through blood or | | marriage. |

| | | This bill requires the Department of Human Services to prefer | | placement with the other family members of the child in | | residential placement after termination of parental rights. |
