Sec. 1. 29-A MRSA §405, sub-§1, ¶D is enacted to read:

D.__A person may change the month in which a registration expires by informing the registration agent of the choice and paying a fee not to exceed $10 to the agent.__The registration expires on the last day of the month of choice, which may not be less than one year from the date of issuance of the person's current registration.__The excise tax and registration fee must be adjusted to reflect the number of months the registration is effective.__A person may change the month in which a registration expires once in any 5-year period.

SUMMARY

This bill allows the owner of a registered motor vehicle to change the month in which the registration expires once every 5 years. The bill allows a registration agent to charge a fee of up to $10 to accommodate the change.
