This bill implements the recommendations of the Wage Fairness Task Force. It provides funding to achieve wage parity between direct-care workers employed by intermediate care facilities for persons with mental retardation and direct-care workers providing other community services for persons with mental retardation. The appropriation mirrors the Department of Mental Health, Mental Retardation and Substance Abuse Services' budget request for fiscal years 1999-00 and 2000-01.
