4.__Law enforcement agency having jurisdiction.__"Law
enforcement agency having jurisdiction" means the chief of police
in the municipality where a sex offender expects to be or is
domiciled.__If the municipality does not have a chief of police,
"law enforcement agency having jurisdiction" means the sheriff of
the county were the municipality is located.__"Law enforcement
agency having jurisdiction" also means the sheriff of the county
in an unorganized territory.

 
5.__Sex offender.__"Sex offender" means a person who is an
adult convicted or a juvenile convicted as an adult of a sex
offense.

 
6.__Sex offense.__"Sex offense" means a conviction for one of
the following offenses or for an attempt of one of the following
offenses if the victim was less than 18 years of age at the time
of the criminal conduct:

 
A.__A violation under Title 17, section 2922;

 
B.__A violation under Title 17-A, section 253, subsection 2,
paragraph G or H; Title 17-A, section 254; Title 17-A,
section 255, subsection 1, paragraph C, F, G or J; Title 17-
A, section 256; Title 17-A, section 258; Title 17-A, section
301, unless the actor is a parent of the victim; Title 17-A,
section 302; Title 17-A, section 511, subsection 1,
paragraph D; Title 17-A, section 556; Title 17-A, section
852, subsection 1, paragraph B; Title 17-A, section 854; or
Title 17-A, section 855; or

 
C.__A violation of an offense in another jurisdiction,
including, but not limited to, a state, federal, military or
tribal court, that includes the essential elements of an
offense listed in paragraph A or B.

 
7.__Sexually violent offense.__"Sexually violent offense"
means:

 
A.__A conviction for or an attempt to commit an offense
under Title 17-A, section 253, subsection 1; Title 17-A,
section 253, subsection 1; Title 17-A, section 253,
subsection 2, paragraph A, B, C, D, E, F, I or J; or Title
17-A, section 255, subsection 1, paragraph A, B, D, E, H or
I; or

 
B.__A conviction for or an attempt to commit an offense of
the law in another jurisdiction, including, but not limited
to, a state, federal, military or tribal court, that
includes the essential elements of an offense listed in
paragraph A.
