Sec. 1. Review. Resolved: That the Department of Human Services
shall review the case mix assessment tool and reimbursement rate
for residential care facilities licensed under the Maine Revised
Statutes, Title 22, chapter 1663 or 1665 to ensure that access
and quality care to persons with Alzheimer's disease or other
types of dementia is maintained. The department shall conduct
this review in consultation with interested parties including,
but not limited to:

 
1. The Alzheimer's Association, Maine Chapter;

 
2. Legal services for the elderly;

 
3. The long-term care ombudsman program established in the
Maine Revised Statutes, Title 22, section 5106, subsection 11-C;
and

 
4. Other relevant consumers and advocates for consumers and
providers.

 
The department shall report the results of its review to the
Joint Standing Committee on Health and Human Services by October
1, 1999.

 
SUMMARY

 
This bill requires the Department of Human Services to review
the case mix assessment tool and reimbursement rate for
residential care facilities to ensure access and quality care for
persons with Alzheimer's disease or other types of dementia.
