Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:

 
Sec. 1. 7 MRSA §543-A, as enacted by PL 1983, c. 220, is amended to
read:

 
§543-A. Cider

 
Effective January 1, 1984, no a person may not sell,
advertise, offer or expose for sale any product labeled as
"cider" if that product has been cooked. For the purposes of
this section, "cooked" means heated to a temperature of 155
Fahrenheit or higher. All unpasteurized cider sold, advertised,
offered or exposed for sale must be labeled "This product is not
pasteurized."

 
SUMMARY

 
This bill requires labeling of unpasteurized cider.
