| | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows: |

| | | Sec. 1. 39-A MRSA §102, sub-§11, ¶F is enacted to read: |

| | | F.__Beginning January 1, 2001, "employee" does not include a | | resident of a foreign country, province or state who is | | employed in this State if that other governmental entity | | does not provide workers' compensation benefits or coverage | | for a resident of this State employed in that foreign | | country, province or state. |

| | | Sec. 2. Application. This Act applies to all injuries occurring on | | or after January 1, 2001. |
|
| | | This bill provides that a resident of a foreign country, | | province or state who is injured while working for an employer in | | the State is not entitled to workers' compensation benefits from | | the State if the foreign country, province or state in which that | | person resides does not provide for workers' compensation | | protection for residents of the State who are employed in that | | foreign country, province or state. |
