Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:

 
Sec. 1. 39-A MRSA §102, sub-§11, ¶F is enacted to read:

 
F.__Beginning January 1, 2001, "employee" does not include a
resident of a foreign country, province or state who is
employed in this State if that other governmental entity
does not provide workers' compensation benefits or coverage
for a resident of this State employed in that foreign
country, province or state.

 
Sec. 2. Application. This Act applies to all injuries occurring on
or after January 1, 2001.

 
SUMMARY

 
This bill provides that a resident of a foreign country,
province or state who is injured while working for an employer in
the State is not entitled to workers' compensation benefits from
the State if the foreign country, province or state in which that
person resides does not provide for workers' compensation
protection for residents of the State who are employed in that
foreign country, province or state.
