Sec. 1. 17-A MRSA §505-A is enacted to read:

§505-A.__Removal or destruction of street signs

1.__A person may not intentionally destroy, mutilate, deface, injure or remove a street sign.

2.__As used in this section, "street sign" means a marker placed on a public way that denotes a physical address.

3.__Removal or destruction of a street sign is a Class E crime.

SUMMARY

This bill prohibits the removal or destruction of street signs. The bill also makes the removal or destruction of street signs a Class E crime.
