Sec. 1. 36 MRSA §4832, sub-§3 is enacted to read:

3.__Dedication of fees.__The revenues collected from the fee imposed on the retail sale of new tires and new lead-acid batteries must be used for the payment of all publicly approved bond issues or those parts of publicly approved bond issues that have the purpose of cleaning up tire stockpiles.__The fee imposed on the retail sale of new tires and new lead-acid batteries is repealed upon the complete payment of all publicly approved bond issues that have the purpose of cleaning up tire stockpiles.

SUMMARY

This bill requires that the revenues obtained from the recycling assistance fee imposed on the retail sale of new tires and new lead-acid batteries must be used to pay off any publicly approved bond issues that have the purpose of cleaning up tire stockpiles. In addition, this bill repeals the recycling assistance fee for new tires and new lead-acid batteries upon the complete payment of all bond issues pertaining to the cleanup of tire stockpiles.
