Sec. 1. 26 MRSA §774, sub-§2-A is enacted to read:

2-A.__Work time not included.__In determining whether a minor's work hours comply with subsection 1 or 2, the employer may disregard up to 5 minutes of time for which the minor may be credited before and after each assigned work shift.

SUMMARY

This bill allows employers to disregard up to 5 minutes of time before and after each assigned work shift in determining whether the minor's work hours comply with the law. This allows for some flexibility to ensure the employers are not penalized for allowing minors to punch in or out at a time other than the exact hour at which they are assigned to begin or end work.
