Sec. 1. 30-A MRSA §896, first ¶, as enacted by PL 1993, c. 582, §1, is amended to read:

The budget committee consists of 9 voting members from the commissioner districts and 3 nonvoting members one voting legislative member selected as follows.

Sec. 2. 30-A MRSA §896, sub-§2, as amended by PL 1995, c. 359, §1, is repealed and the following enacted in its place:

2.__Legislative member.__By December 1st of every even- numbered year, the Somerset County legislative delegation shall meet and select from among its members a Legislator to serve as a voting member of the budget committee for the ensuing 2 years.__ The State Senator who represents the largest number of voters within the county as tallied in the most recent election shall call the meeting.__A meeting must be called at any other time when necessary to fill a vacancy in the position.

SUMMARY

This bill changes the Somerset County Budget Committee's legislative membership by changing it from a 3-member advisory membership to one voting member.
