An Act to Discourage Drunken Driving

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:
Sec. 1. 28-A MRSA §§1207 and 1208
are enacted to read:
§1207.__Limitations on discounts by off-premise licensees
A person licensed under this chapter may not sell wine or malt
liquor for less than 5% over the wholesale price charged by the
distributor.
§1208.__Sale of malt liquor; packaging
A person licensed under this chapter may sell malt liquor only
in a pack containing 6 cans or bottles or by the case.
SUMMARY
This bill prohibits a person licensed to sell beer and wine
for consumption off of the licensed premises for less than 5%
over the wholesale price. It also requires that the licensee
sell malt liquor packaged only in a 6-pack or case.
