Sec. 1. 26 MRSA §1194, sub-§1-B is enacted to read:

1-B.__Estimated earnings.__The department may not delay or deny a benefit to a claimant on the grounds that the claimant is unable to produce a pay stub or other proof of payment for work performed during a claim week if the claimant has not yet received that payment.__The department may require a claimant to submit a good faith estimate of the amount earned and to provide a pay stub or other proof within a reasonable time after the claimant receives the payment.

SUMMARY

This bill allows a claimant for unemployment compensation to estimate earnings during a claim week, rather than requiring a claimant to produce pay stubs or other proof of earnings, if the claimant has not yet been paid for the work during that claim week.
