Sec. 1. Pilot program; Maine's French heritage. Resolved: That the
Department of Education shall conduct a pilot program in
kindergartens located in Augusta, the Lewiston-Auburn area, the
St. John Valley, Biddeford and other communities with a
significant Franco-American population to promote ethnic
diversity and Maine's French heritage. At a minimum, the pilot
program must include teaching the French language. The
department shall adopt routine technical rules pursuant to the
Maine Revised Statutes, Title 5, chapter 375, subchapter II-A to
implement the program.

 
SUMMARY

 
This resolve requires the Department of Education to conduct a
pilot project to promote ethnic diversity and Maine's French
heritage, including the teaching of French, in kindergartens in
communities with strong French ties and history.
