| | | (2)__The Chief of the State Police. |
| | | If the municipal officers have not designated the Chief of | | the State Police as their designee pursuant to section 2002- | | A, then the resident may choose either the municipal | | officers or the Chief of the State Police as the issuing | | authority; |
| | | Current law allows a resident of a municipality to apply for a | | concealed firearms permit to the Chief of the State Police only | | if the chief has been designated by the municipality as the | | issuing authority. This bill allows a resident of a municipality | | to apply to either the municipal officers, if the municipal | | officers issue concealed firearms permits, or the Chief of the | | State Police, at the preference of the resident. |
