Sec. 1. 12 MRSA §1832, sub-§6 is enacted to read:

6.__Public access to great ponds.__The public must have free access on foot and by vehicle for noncommercial purposes over any road that provides access to any great pond impounded by a dam that is licensed or otherwise authorized by any agency of the State Government or the Federal Government or by authority granted by an Act or resolve of the Legislature.

Sec. 2. 12 MRSA §1846, sub-§6 is enacted to read:

6.__Public access to great ponds.__The public must have free access on foot and by vehicle for noncommercial purposes over any road that provides access to any great pond impounded by a dam that is licensed or otherwise authorized by any agency of the State Government or the Federal Government or by authority granted by an Act or resolve of the Legislature.

SUMMARY

This bill grants to the public a right-of-way on foot or by vehicle to any great pond in the State that was created by a dam authorized by State Government or Federal Government.
