Sec. 1. 5 MRSA §309 is enacted to read:

§309.__Establishment of memorial

The Capitol Planning Commission shall construct and maintain a memorial dedicated to women who serve in law enforcement in the State.__The memorial must be located and constructed in accordance with a plan approved by the Capitol Planning Commission and the Legislative Council.__Subject to available funding, construction of the memorial must be in accordance with the following provisions.

1.__Location.__The memorial must be located in the State House complex.

2.__Memorial name and inscription.__The memorial is the Patricia A. Bailey Memorial and must have a bronze plaque placed upon it, on which is inscribed a salute to all women who serve in law enforcement positions in the State.

3.__Funding.__The Capitol Planning Commission may accept state and local funds, gifts and other contributions to be used solely to carry out the purposes of this section.__All contributions or other funds received must be reported in writing to the Legislative Council at least quarterly.

SUMMARY

This bill establishes the Patricia A. Bailey Memorial, dedicated to women who serve in law enforcement in the State.
