Sec. 1. 7 MRSA §1758 is enacted to read:

§1758.__Salmonella enteritidis risk reduction and

surveillance program

The commissioner shall establish a mandatory Salmonella enteritidis risk reduction and surveillance program for commercial egg-type poultry farms.__This program must be similar in nature and scope to a Salmonella enteritidis risk reduction and surveillance program conducted in New England.

SUMMARY

This bill directs the Commissioner of Agriculture, Food and Rural Resources to establish a mandatory Salmonella enteritidis risk reduction and surveillance program for commercial egg-type poultry farms.
