Sec. 1. Department of Public Safety directed to create State Fire and Emergency Medical Services Academy. Resolved: That the Department of Public Safety shall develop a plan, including implementing legislation, to create and implement the State Fire and Emergency Medical Services Academy that will be housed and administered as part of the Maine Criminal Justice Academy. The department shall work with the Board of Trustees of the Maine Criminal Justice Academy, the Maine Fire Chiefs Association and other interested parties to develop curriculum and training requirements; and be it further

Sec. 2. Reporting date established. Resolved: That the Department of Public Safety shall report the plan and schedule for implementation required under section 1 to the Joint Standing Committee on Criminal Justice by April 1, 2002.

SUMMARY

This resolve directs the Department of Public Safety to develop a plan to create and implement the State Fire and Emergency Medical Services Academy as part of the Maine Criminal Justice Academy.
