| | | Emergency preamble. Whereas, Acts of the Legislature do not become | | effective until 90 days after adjournment unless enacted as | | emergencies; and |

| | | Whereas, the scallop season runs from December 1st to April | | 15th; and |

| | | Whereas, it is necessary that this legislation be enacted as an | | emergency so that it will take effect during the scallop season; | | and |
|
| | | Whereas, in the judgment of the Legislature, these facts create | | an emergency within the meaning of the Constitution of Maine and | | require the following legislation as immediately necessary for | | the preservation of the public peace, health and safety; now, | | therefore, |

| | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows: |

| | | Sec. 1. 12 MRSA §6728 is enacted to read: |

| | | §6728.__Daily catch limit |
|
| | | A holder of a scallop boat license is limited to a daily catch | | of 225 pounds of scallops per day or the equivalent, as__measured | | by 25 gallons of scallops or 18 standard totes of scallops. |
|
| | | Emergency clause. In view of the emergency cited in the preamble, | | this Act takes effect when approved. |
|
| | | The purpose of this bill is to place a limitation on the daily | | catch of scallops for any person holding a scallop boat license. |
