| This bill amends the law establishing the Maine Workers' |
| Compensation Act of 1992 as the exclusive remedy for actions |
| involving injury to or death of an employee. This bill |
| authorizes the estate of a lineworker to sue the employer if the |
| lineworker was working in an emergency situation to restore power |
| during widespread storm outages and had worked in excess of 24 |
| consecutive hours. This legislation applies retroactively to |
| December 11, 1999. |
