| | | Sec. 1. 5 MRSA §19209 is enacted to read: |

| | | §19209.__Statewide services |

| | | The Department of Human Services shall offer public | | information about and prevention and treatment services for HIV.__ | | Services offered pursuant to this section must be available on a | | statewide basis, must serve rural and urban populations and must | | respond to the needs of the communities to which the services are | | offered.__In planning for HIV services, the department shall seek | | and take into consideration the advice of the Maine HIV Advisory | | Committee pursuant to section 19202. |

| | | Sec. 2. Appropriation. The following funds are appropriated from | | the General Fund to carry out the purposes of this Act. |

| | | This bill directs the Department of Human Services to offer | | public information about and prevention and treatment services | | for HIV and AIDS. The services must be available on a statewide | | basis, must serve rural and urban populations and must respond to | | the needs of the communities to which services are offered. In | | planning for HIV services, the department is required to seek and | | take into consider the advice of the Maine HIV Advisory Committee | | established in the Maine Revised Statutes, Title 5, section | | 19202. |
