| | | Sec. 1. 29-A MRSA §2414, sub-§7 is enacted to read: |

| | | 7.__Fleeing a motor vehicle.__A person commits a Class E crime | | if that person, after being signaled to stop a motor vehicle on | | request or signal of a uniformed law enforcement officer, | | attempts to flee from the motor vehicle with the intent of | | eluding arrest.__This subsection only applies to the driver of | | the motor vehicle. |

| | | This bill creates the crime of fleeing a motor vehicle to | | prohibit a driver of a motor vehicle signaled to stop by a law | | enforcement officer from attempting to elude arrest by leaving | | the motor vehicle. |
