Sec. 1. 5 MRSA §44, sub-§10, as enacted by PL 1973, c. 612, §1, is amended to read:

10. Program description. A description of each program shall be provided and shall include a summary of major expenditures, goals and objectives and future plans.; and

Sec. 2. 5 MRSA §44, sub-§11 is enacted to read:

11.__Paperwork Reduction Act compliance summary.__Pursuant to section 72, a summary of each department's efforts to comply with the provisions of the Paperwork Reduction Act.

Sec. 3. 5 MRSA c. 4 is enacted to read:

CHAPTER 4

PAPERWORK REDUCTION ACT

§71.__Short title

This chapter may be known and cited as the "Paperwork Reduction Act."

§72.__Paperwork Reduction Act

Notwithstanding other provisions of law, a business operating in this State that is required on a periodic basis to report certain information or data to an agency or department of State Government is not required to report that information or data to more than one agency or department of State Government during a reporting period established by law or rule.

1.__Definitions.__As used in this section, unless the context otherwise indicates, the following terms have the following meanings.

A. "Agency of record" means the agency or department with which a requirement to report information or data originates.

B.__"Information or data" means facts or statistics related to the operation of the business or to its ownership.

C. "Report" means any document required to be filed with any agency or department of State Government on a periodic basis that provides factual or statistical information about a business or its ownership.
