Sec. 1. 30-A MRSA §61, sub-§1, as enacted by PL 1987, c. 737, Pt. A, §2 and Pt. C, §106 and amended by PL 1989, c. 6; c. 9, §2; and c. 104, Pt. C, §§8 and 10, is further amended to read:'

1. Residency; election by district. Members Except as provided in subsection 1-A, members of each board of commissioners must be residents of the commissioner district which that they represent and shall be are elected by the voters of that district.

Sec. 2. 30-A MRSA §61, sub-§1-A is enacted to read:

1-A.__Somerset County; election.__The board of commissioners representing the districts of Somerset County is elected by the voters of the county.

SUMMARY

This bill amends current law to permit all of the voters in Somerset County to vote for all the member of the board of commissioners.
