Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:
Sec. 1. 25 MRSA §2916
is enacted to read:
§2916.__Flags for deceased firefighters and law enforcement
officers
In recognition of the indispensable public service that
firefighters and law enforcement officers play in the well-being
of the citizens of this State, the family of a deceased
firefighter or law enforcement officer, upon request to the
Department of Public Safety, is entitled to receive a state flag
from the office of the commissioner.
SUMMARY
This bill authorizes the Commissioner of Public Safety to
present a state flag to the family of a deceased firefighter or
law enforcement officer.
