| | | Sec. 1. 14 MRSA §1107 is enacted to read: |

| | | §1107.__Memorandum decisions prohibited |

| | | The court, in an action tried without a jury or following a | | judgment notwithstanding the verdict, may not issue a decision | | without including the reasons for that decision. |

| | | Sec. 2. 14 MRSA §1804 is enacted to read: |

| | | §1804.__Memorandum decisions prohibited |
|
| | | The court may not issue a ruling or decision without including | | the reasons for that ruling or decision. |
|
| | | This bill prohibits a court from issuing a memorandum | | decision, which is a decision of the court that does not contain | | the opinion or reasons of the court for arriving at that | | decision. |
