Sec. 1. 12 MRSA §7101, sub-§5, ¶¶O to R are enacted to read:

O.__Resident junior antlerless

deer hunting license (10 years

of age or older and under 16 years

of age)

P.__Resident antlerless deer

hunting license (16 years of age

or older)

Q.__Nonresident junior antlerless

deer hunting license (10 years

of age or older and under 16 years

of age)

R.__Nonresident antlerless deer

hunting license (16 years of age

or older)

Sec. 2. 12 MRSA §7101, sub-§5, as amended by PL 1999, c. 321, §5 and c. 467, §1 and affected by §5, is further amended by adding at the end a new blocked paragraph to read:

A license issued pursuant to paragraphs A to N may not be used to hunt antlerless deer.

Sec. 3. 12 MRSA §7457, sub-§1, ¶J is enacted to read:

J.__The commissioner may not issue an antlerless deer permit to a person unless the person holds an antlerless deer hunting license issued pursuant to section 7101, subsection 5, paragraphs O to R.

SUMMARY

This bill creates a separate hunting license for taking of antlerless deer.
