Sec. 1. 12 MRSA §7457, sub-§1, ¶J is enacted to read:

J.__Notwithstanding the provisions of paragraph H, if a holder of an antlerless deer permit has not yet taken an antlerless deer and is hunting antlerless deer while accompanied by a person with a hunting license to take deer who does not hold an antlerless deer permit, the person may take an antlerless deer under the holder's antlerless deer permit while in the presence of the holder.__If a person licensed to take deer who does not hold an antlerless deer permit takes an antlerless deer while in the presence of a holder of an antlerless deer permit who has not yet taken an antlerless deer, the permit transfers to the person who takes the antlerless deer and the original holder may not take an antlerless deer under that permit.

SUMMARY

This bill allows an antlerless deer permit to transfer from the original holder to another licensed hunter if the other hunter shoots an antlerless deer while hunting with the original holder.
