Sec. 1. Appropriation. The following funds are appropriated from the General Fund to carry out the purposes of this Act.

Provides funds to create a digital library to meet the educational, research, business and economic needs of Maine. The funds will provide for information resources in digital form, such as books, scholarly journals, publicly accessible sites on the Internet, databases, electronic archives and other information sources. In addition, the funding will provide for the infrastructure needs to make the information accessible statewide.

SUMMARY

This bill provides an annual General Fund appropriation of $2,500,000 to the Board of Trustees of the University of Maine System to be used for the creation of a digital library collection to support its educational, research and public service missions.
